This, is AWESOME.
It’s a Commodre 64 floppy drive replacement. More than that, it’s a solid state replacement that uses flash memory to store .D64 and .G64 files.
I’ve been waiting to buy a Commodore 64 until I could get a 1581 along with it. I don’t enjoy the idea of having to scare up 5 1/4 DSDD floppies and figuring out how to transfer the files in a useable manner from the internet.
For those who don’t know, a 1581 drive was a late addition to the C64 line, using a DSSD 3.5 inch floppy drive. Damn things were a godsend to the C64 pirates. The stacks of 5 1/4 floppies I had laying around could seriously injure someone if they fell over. Putting a lot more data on a 3.5 was just what the doctor ordered.
